Sports injury
Sports injuries are commonly caused by overuse, direct impact, or the application of force that is greater than the body part can structurally withstand. Common injuries include bruises, sprains, strains, joint injuries and nose bleeds.
Physical injury and mental health are closely linked. A serious injury or chronic illness can cause mental health problems including depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Poor mental health can negatively impact on recovery rates of the physical injury or illness.
Types of sports injuries:
1. Ankle sprain – symptoms include pain, swelling and stiffness.
2. Bruises – a blow can cause small bleeds into the skin.
3. Concussion – mild reversible brain injury from a blow to the head, which may be associated with loss of consciousness. …
4. Cuts and abrasions – are usually caused by falls.
